Hi folks,
thinking of treating myself to a new battery for portable operation, probably 50 to 80Ah, 12V ish and light weight.
What's the flavour of the month these days?
Seasons greetings,
Jen

Re: Batteries for portable operation
Hi Jen, Lots of us use Fogstar products in a variety of sizes.
Not heard a bad word so far. I use a 105A/Hr LiFePO4 and its been amazing. Rob MoDTS has a string of 280A/Hr wired for 28V and it was his recommendation that I chose mine as below.
https://www.fogstar.co.uk/collections/l ... rift-105ah which is now £90 less than I paid!
Both Noel G8GTZ and Dave G8GKQ own them too.
I have drawn up to 90A out of mine (not on purpose!) but it holds up incredibly well under high load, usually my 12 to 44V upconverter for driving my big 70cms PA and it sits quite happy delivering 40+A. It powered everything I had on display at the RSGB convention for the two days, using about 45A/Hr of the capacity.
You could also try https://www.bmstechnologies.co.uk/produ ... y-lithium/ if you want something smaller. I have used them for 20+ years as my go-to lead-acid source (cars). They are very helpful on the phone.

Re: Batteries for portable operation
Hi Jen
I agree with Gareth. The Fogstar 105 AH is excellent and well worth the outlay. It is light to carry, constant voltage and you can monitor its charge state through Bluetooth.
One charge usually lasts me 3 or 4 portable sessions, because I know exactly the state of charge before I go out.
