Heatshrink Tubing for Construction Projects

Post by G8GKQ » Fri Aug 19, 2022 10:02 am

I make extensive use of heatshrink tubing in my construction projects; I use a hot air gun to shrink it, although a wipe with the non-tinned part of the soldering iron also works.

It is expensive from RS/Farnell, but Lidl currently have packs of 450 assorted 45mm lengths for £3.99. In the "middle of Lidl" for this week only....

If you can't get it from Lidl, or if they have sold out, these are also available on Amazon (at twice the price). I recently bought several metres in a selection of sizes from AliExpress, cheaper but takes time to arrive. This turned out to be good, but not all heat shrink is of the same quality, so check before buying. Aliexpress seems to be the only place to get 0.3mm tin/lead solder at a reasonable price.
