Tripod recommendations please....
I have a supreme quality all-aluminium surveyors tripod that I was given in 1986 as 'too old and heavy'. Its absolutely wonderful for mounting things like whole stations and a dish on but I'm looking for a second, perhaps more portable unit. Something a bit better than a camera tripod perhaps...
Anyone got a suggestion or source?
Thanks
Gareth

Ebay search
https://www.ebay.co.uk/sch/i.html?_from ... =0&_sop=15
I have one - I use it in a sheltered corner, mounted with 2 dishes, one for Astra and one for 19E.
It came with some metal rods to hold it in the ground, but as not used as portable, have put some heavy bricks on the legs to keep it in place.
The following is not a seller recommendation just similar to mine - choose your own seller and price

Thanks for the suggestions, two things happened....I found a lightweight Surveyors tripod on eBay and the seller accepted £30 which I collected on the way back from Sundays DATV test day.
Next day a friend who is moving house asked if I wanted a pair of old floodlights on a tripod, a 'bit wonky'. Its a Clarke/Machine mart dual 500W halogen flood thing that will extend to about 2m and has a reasonable base spread. The only wonky bit was two screws into the plastic floodlight bar boss.
So sorted for tripods now I think......
