Pluto config.txt, "It's a simple matter of updating the [NETWORK] settings of the PlutoSDR ipaddr (default is 192.168.2.1), and your host PC settings ipaddr_host (default of 192.168.2.10). ip_addr and ipaddr_host must be unique, and must be on the same subnet.

I can't find a setting for Stream Server in OBS that works. It could be complicated by the fact that my PC is on a toatally different net (172.x.x.x) and isn't shown on the Portsdown screen under Network Devices.

Do I need to put my PC's ip address into the Pluto config.txt in the [USB_ETHERNET] section? Any other suggestions?

I'm reluctant to change things I'm unsure of in case I "break" something I can't restore

When you plug the Pluto into the computers USB it makes the computer the 192.168.2.10 and it is 192.168.2.1 but this is not your normal LAN. Just think of it as an extra LAN in the USB world of your computer. Send the OSB stream to 192.168.2.1 and the computer should sort it out! Look at advanced IP scanner and scan for 192.168.2.1-255 and see if it shows you anything.

It is hard to understand what you are doing, Pluto, Portsdown PC, OBS Streamer and DATV-Easy? Explain the set up. Is the Pluto on the Ethernet? What has the Portsdown4 got to do with this? OBS is streaming to where etc.

Martin - my RPi Portsdown 4 is in the 172 ip range, not 192 and I can get the RPi touch screen on my PC in Firefox.

IP scanner shows no devices in the 192 range.

Pico Tuner connected to PC via USB and receives via Open Tuner - so as not to overload RPi, Also I can see signal strength, which isn't on the RPi screen when receiving picture.

The TX setup is PC with OBS and DATVEasy on 172 ip, RPi 172, Pluto on original 192.168.2.1
I can transmit test card and webcam, if webcam connected to RPi

What I'm trying to do is transmit (h264/mp4/mkv) video files that are on the PC by streaming with OBS/DATVEasy

Do I need to change the RPi to 192.168.2.10 (as shown on the RPi screen) rather than the 172 ip range? (I can't remember WHY I made it a 172 address)
Is OBS trying to get to the Pluto via the RPi?

Barry, if you have a PC, a Pico based Minitiouner, DATV Easy, Open Tuner, a Pluto, an amp and an LNB / Dish I don't understand why you are trying to include the Portsdown in the chain. Pico Tuner receives and you use Open Tuner to view the signals. DATV Easy and the Pluto and amp transmit. You view the received signals on the PC screen. The PC sends your video to the Pluto.

If you want to transmit camera video you connect the HDMI output of the camera to an HDMI to USB dongle which is plugged into your PC.

What's the Portsdown for???

This is also what was confusing me. Why is there a Portsdown in the loop? It is not needed in this case. The Portsdown works stand alone with the Pluto connected to it. But if the Pluto is plugged directly into the PC, the Portsdown is not required. A PC usually is much better at encoding than a PI, will do H265 etc.

Ok. I've obviously misunderstood.
I could still build the Portsdown and use it with inputs selected from the touch screen, but to use OBS and DATVEasy I need to connect the Pluto to the PC, not the Portsdown Pi.
The other thing I find confusing is ip addresses. I presumed that I would not be able to access 192 devices from my 172 ip addresses (other than with a browser).
I'll do some "re-wiring" and connect the Pluto direct to the PC then see if OBS/DATVEasy works as I presumed it should.

You don’t need to change your LAN subnet. Just plug the Pluto into the USB and it will just work. Also you can’t cross subnets with a browser only a bridge can do that.

On another note, I've pugged in an EasyCap and it shows up in USB devices as Syntek STK1160. From a search in the forum for STK1160 I'm unsure if that is a device that should be ok.... and is it plug'n'play in the RPi or do I need to set it up from a menu?

I think your problem here is you keep going off on a tangent. If you follow the instructions, it just works. If you try something different, unless you really know what you are doing it is likely to end in frustration. Even if you do know what you are doing it often ends in frustration as well.

• The only Easycaps that work are those described in the Wiki. Nothing in any menu, just select it.

• Why VMIX? It is highly restricted, unless you pay handsomely for it. OBS works fine with DATV Easy, hundreds of amateurs are using it - have you looked at the articles in the forums and CQTV on this?
