Latest pluto F5OEO firmware usage with different gui

Hello everyone, I used for some time the F5OEO 0303 fw perseverance on the pluto with good results and was curious to try the latest DVB2 fw from F5OEO. I then realized that no more gui is included in the pluto and there are several options like DATV-Red or DATV-Easy.

Now, I tried to use both DATV-Red and DATV-Easy with no success... the pluto is working great if used with SDR Console for example, while DATV-Red tells me the pluto is connected, but when I try to transmit, nothing happens. No output at all, even in carrier mode and I cannot see any feedback in the interface from the pluto (like FPGA temp, version, etc...). DATV-Easy tells me that there is no connection with the pluto when I try to use it (I can connect the pluto using ssh and it's connected via usb to eth device). I've already tried to disable all firewalls.
I'm sure I'm missing something here, but cannot really understand why it's not working... I cannot find any easy setup guide with detailed steps to be followed for beginners of this two applications.

Any help is truly appreciated! Many thanks, Mauro IW3ROW

0303 firmware is great, but it has several modes. The later firmware needs the driving programme to understand it. You need to ask the developers what they recommend, if it is not mentioned in the manual. They probably expect the standard AD firmware by default.

Mauro,

I can confirm that an ethernet connected Pluto, using UGREEN CM266 and Y- USB cable,
with F5OEO plutosdr-fw-0.5.16.7 works fine with DATV-Easy-V3.08.
Follow carefully the instructions on page 5 of the V3.08 Manual and choice of SDR PlutoDVB2 F5OEO (pag.3).

Test with F5OEO Tezuka 0.1.3 with same DATV-Easy 3.08 settings, except SDR choice :
- Ethernet: not usable, lock/ unlock and so on
- USB: OK

I wonder if ethernet not working with Tezuka is due to that ethernet adapter? I have one like that that I use with a laptop and it gets hot, which to me implies it uses a lot of power. It has several USB-3 ports.

That might be why the ethernet is unreliable, even with the Y-cable. I am using an ASUS ethernet only adapter which came with my old laptop successfully, the only proviso being the cable should not be too long, 20m was too long for reliable comms. Same effect.

Different firmware may handle the ethernet adapter differently.

Thanks all for the suggestions! Freddy, finally you pointed me in the right direction... I had setup my callsign initially in DATV-Easy, but it was not set correctly set on the pluto, so after checking it with MQTT Explorer, it works great and the pluto goes tx.
I use exactly the same Ethernet USB adapter, but the power supply is via the separated USB connector, not the Y cable for now.

Now I can start experimenting with this ;)
