Question re video camera HDMI output quality

What's the maximum resolution I should run my video camera at using HDMI out into a CamLink and OBS? Is there a level of output quality beyond which the transmitted signal no longer shows improvement? I have so far just run 1080/50p 50Mbps (what Sony call XAVC S HD) but the camera will do full 4K.

Is there a camera "recording" setting beyond which it's pointless to go for DATV? I am not 100% sure if recording setting affect real time HDMI out to be honest, the Sony blurb is very sparse re that... Camera is an FDR-AX700.

Thanks for any tips. Chris 2E0ILY

You can run 4k, but it tends to require a bit more bandwidth so 333ks 1080p is a practical compromise. Best match OBS to the same resolution as you are sending on air.
