Longmynd + Linux/Raspberry pi not working

Post by vu2ow » Tue Nov 08, 2022 4:02 am

Hello Friends,

This topic may have been widely discussed in BATC forums - I am unable to find any posts relating to my specific problem and hence I am opening a new subject. Thank you for your patience.

I assembled the minitiouner kit from BATC and got it working well on a Windows 11 PC with Minitioune software. All signals, locking are perfect. I am nearing 100% on the signal levels. In Windows environment, I am comfortable.

I tried the same in Raspberry Pi and another Linux PC - Installed Phil Crump's Longmynd on both systems and tried ZR6TG client / VLC but I am not successful. Installation is successful but the Video just doesnt play - it is very breaky and lossy. BER is reported as 125% in the 8080 html page. This happens in both raspberry pi and another linux system.

In summary, Minitiouner hardware is perfect and works well in Windows environment but on Linux, I am unable to make it work with Longmynd. I would be grateful if anyone can provide guidance.

Thank you

Any suggestions for me?

Could it be due to some incompatibility - FTDI Card on minitiouner hardware and Linux :( ? - slow traffic between minitiouner and Rpi? Things are good on PC/Windows side.....

Is my network bad? - Something in the network ? Everything else runs well....

Thank you!

A resistor between 5.6k and 12k must be fitted between CN2 Pin 19 - This modification on FTDI module has been recommended for Minitioiuine software 8 and above. Is this needed for Raspbery pi - Longmynd?

The first thing to try is a different USB cable. Then the drivers. Which distribution?

Thanks for your response, Mike! I have tried different cables. Both cables work well with windows PC. Problem is only with Raspberry Pi.

Got it working!

Problem was with the 74HC10 ic in the minitiouner.

Friends,

I had used a 74F10N in place of 74HC10. This was workign well with windows. Once I placed the ST electronics 74HC10, everything started working. I am able to run Longmynd in Raspberry pi and clients in PC, Android phone and Android Big Screen TV too, without any hitch.

That explains it.

It is important to use the right part.
