GTX 1070 SC2 video card OK?

Post by Basil » Thu Nov 18, 2021 10:16 am

Is anyone running an EVGA GTX1070 SC2 video card by any chance, and if so is it fine for H265 encoding and generally? I have a friend who has one for sale at a decent price, but I do not know how to acertain it will work properly for my needs. Thanks.

OS would beWindows 7 64 bit, and processor not yet bought. It appears to have drivers for Win 7 64 bit.

Thanks, appreciated Mike, do I need "H.265 (HEVC) 4:4:4" whatever that is, and it does not support? Would you say it was a decent card for H265 for under £250 all in?

No I don't think you do. I have used a 1050 successfully. However £250 seems very steep for such an old card from 2016. They were only £300 new and I paid less than that for my more recent GTX1660 this time last year. I know there is a GPU shortage and prices of new cards are very high, but you should hold out for a better price.

Thanks Mike, I agree the prices of video cards is crazy right now, and waiting for things to hopefully settle down would be prudent. Having stopped smoking and still avoiding the pubs because of the gift from China has allowed me to be somewhat self indulgent in other ways, but I will see what else I can find.

A look on eBay at current graphic card prices, new and used, might shock you. Thanks again.
