Best route to sending and receiving low SR's

Post by radiogareth » Tue Nov 03, 2020 8:22 am

Much as vibrant full HD is good to look at, its also 'in vain to do with more, that which can be done with less'. So other than turning off any audio, what are the best ways (proven) of sending and receiving low SRs - under 125ks? 64 or even 32?
Thanks
Gareth

For 125ks, 66ks and 35ks I use OBS, a graphics card with hardware H265 encoder, an ffmpeg script for encoding and a Pluto. 125ks is fine for SD/HD with sound. For 66ks either use 8PSK or reduce the resolution and for 35ks 8 PSK or higher and turn off sound - you can do it at 35ks with sound but not great. Generally If the TX rate is above 160kbps it seems to work well. Below that get's more challenging. There is absolutely no need to send above 1MB/s in 2020 for amateur TV unless you are sending 4k.
