vMIX, Minitiouner and MPA

I've been trying to learn how to drive vMix and minitiouner.
I'm sending the output of Minitiouner over udp to vMix and it works providing the incoming signal is using AAC format audio.
However many stations (myself included use MPA audio - no other choice as I'm using DATV express) in which case vMix doesn't decode the audio and shows audio error on the stream.
So far I've not had any success getting vMix to accept MPA despite changing settings in the decoder options - like adding mpa and mp2 to the FFmpeg options.
Does anyone have any pointers as to settings etc ?
