iViewHD dongle
A week or so ago I read an article that suggested using one of these iViewHD dongles as nice portable monitors for DATV with an android phone or tablet. But I can't find the reference to it now (age), maybe it was on twitter which I only occasionally visit.
It certainly works well as a sensitive freeview terrestrial tuner on my PC, using the supplied software, offering a record option too. But not what I need really. If it would oblige on 437 or 1296 that would be handy.
Suggestions welcome.....

Re: iViewHD dongle
Hi,
We are using these dongles to rx the new datv dvbt2 transmitter of on0snw.
the transmitter is still in test and will be located on a 83m high mast in several weeks.
We are using standard 8mhz dvbt2 on 1290Mhz
With vlc or dvbviewer you can tune the iview dongle to 23cm band without the need of a down (uhf channel) down converter.
the iview dongles can be found on ebay.
there are even more cheaper dongles that work also.

Re: iViewHD dongle
Many thanks for the pointers, I'll give it a try.
It seems to find the dongle with VLC media player and also demo version of DVB viewer.
Not sure how to set rx freq to 1290 in either though. I have a Pluto working with Express DVB so can produce signals within existing European DATV (into a dummy load).
Any basic guidance or pointers welcome.
Thanks
Gareth
As you are using the \Iview on your repeater, are they 'better' than the 802-T2 dongles?

Re: iViewHD dongle
in dvbviewer there is a "transponder list"
it is a txt file.
you can adjust the content. and change for instance 868mhz to 1280 or so.
dvbviewer demo will scan that channel. the iview dongle will tune to what freq dvbviewer tells him to....
with vlc you can just enter the freq.
you van even use iview dongle with tablet and smartphone
you just need the correct otg cable.
than you would be really portable !!

Re: iViewHD dongle
the first time i used dvbviewer, i started transmitting on an uhf channel.
did the uhf scan in dvbviewer. detect your channel.
than change your tx freq. and adjust the freq of the channel previous found.
that was before i discovered the "transponder list"

Re: iViewHD dongle
I bought mine from Amazon as I had a gift card.

It came with a powered aerial too (not much use to us but fine for testing and works very well on DVB-T (Freeview in UK).

Re: iViewHD dongle
Well I have it (DVBviewer) scanning and receiving plenty of UK DVB-T but its not finding my 'extra channel'. I need to read up on what I'm expecting it to receive and therefore what I should be transmitting from the Pluto. So many standards and resolutions
And I have to work away for a week so i will have to leave it.
Is it worth buying the pro version I wonder? I would want it on my tablet and my desktop. Maybe I can have two installations if I only use one at a time....
