DATV from the ISS

Post by G3VZV » Sat Apr 17, 2010 10:36 am

Hi All,

The project to establish a13cms DATV TX in the iSS Columbus module has now restarted and it is "possible" that it may be installed towards the end of next year. It is intended that the transmitter will beacon images and limited live telemetry when it is not being used to downlink live video during the regular "schools contacts". it is also possible that a video uplink facility on13cms will be included in the payload.

The plans propose to use DVB-S at a low data/symbol rate.

For part of the documentation we need to be able to provide evidence that DVB-S receivers are readily available around the world - ie not just in Europe and the US.

So this is a request for such information! Adverts for the hardware and/or details of regional satellite networks using this standard would be gratefully received by the project team so that the data can added to the documentation pack.

thanks
