Hello Guys!,

I have been looking into these Samsung SDC-9441BCN Color Camera. The output is SDI.
Any thoughts as the best way we can convert the output stream into something the DATV Express system can use?

I was thinking that perhaps a board could be designed that would convert the data stream to the MPEG2 format that the PVR USB generates.
These cameras have a very clean image and are very cheap on Ebay. We would still need to get an audio stream muxed in there somehow too.

The new DATV-Express Windows application I have been working on (see other thread) supports
the Blackmagic Decklink Mini Recorder card which allows video capture from both an HDMI and
a SDI input. I have only ever tried it on HDMI but it should work on SDI.

The Blackmagic control panel allows selection of either input (it defaults to SDI).

Magewell also do a SDI -> USB3 capture device (rather expensive). I have only tried the HDMI
version which works very well. The Magewell has 64M of memory inside the dongle and is able
to do format conversion in hardware.

So maybe not such a crazy idea after all
