On the way to CAT15, G4EWJ/F6DZP/P stopped at the top of the A628 Woodhead pass to try and receive new repeater GB3YT. Operation got off to a bad start when the antenna was connected and the LED on the MiniTiouner went out. Eventually it was realised that the PE1RKI filter was putting a dc short on the coax. At least it proved that the resettable fuse in the MiniTiouner was working.
The antenna was plugged directly into the MiniTiouner without a preamp or filter and GB3YT was received at good strength, even though it was in the same general direction as the Emley Moor tower. The distance to the repeater was a not very DXey 18km.
