Build your own USB tuner, Programming The Mini Module Thanks.
Can anyone help with a brief explanation of programming the Mini Module, tools used etc, for DigiLite,
and now the "Usb Tuner Project", I notice Noel talk about 2 flavors being available?
As I have like many other just bought for DigiLite Usb Module from the Batc Shop.
I would like to have a go, or at least see what's goes on.

Hello,
Now my MiniTiouner works well with MiniTioune (=Tutioune for this specific Home brewed tuner).
I have tested SR125 up to SR5000.
latency is very very short for low SR as I am using a very little buffer.
I use VLC for decoding video and audio. Latter it will be done by MiniTioune.
Finally I used very few components:
- FT2232H minimodule
- Samsung DNBU10711IST NIMtuner
- 74HC10 (DIP14) about power supply, we need 5v, 3.3v and 1v.
I use an external 5V power supply(but we can add a 5V regulator if we want to use 11v to 14v for mobile...)
I have added a 3.3 TO220 regulator and a LP3879 with only 3 capacitors for 1V.
I will add a LNBP21 to produce 13v, 14, 18v or 19v for LNB or LNA power supply and it gives also 22kHz signal.
I have tested also SHARP BS2F7HZ0169 that is OK for low SR;
Next week I will test the EARDATEK EDS-4B47FF1B+ that we can find inside TBS5980 ot Prof7500 USB tuner.

We have to decide definitively which option we put. I suggest to put both connectors that fits for SHARP/EARDATEK or Samsung NIM.
We can add easily some led to know that TS is present, or a PIC to switch something when TS is present or for counting packets ...???
Who want to create some proto pcb for that?

Minitioune software now works with 3 different NIM tuners: Samsung, Sharp and Eardatek. We have just to say which we use in Minitioune.ini
All of these NIM allow to work down to 125 kS/s with a fast lock as tutioune1600v0.6h do.
Beta version of Minitioune is available for who want to test.

The current stock of USB modules supplied from the shop will be pre-programmed for USB tuner. However, you can buy them direct from the manufacturer's on line shop http://shop.clickandbuild.com/cnb/shop/ ... 2H+Modules
at the same price as we buy them. So the question is so we continue to stock them and program them or do you want to buy direct and progarm yourselves?
Re tuner - we are currently trying to source 50 units to buy for the shop without going to a far east source as one of members has had bad experiences trying to buy from China - and the delivery times are quite long and we need them here before the contest

MiniTiouner - BATC shop update
Quick update on MiniTiouner (as the USB tuner is now called):
We have finally managed to order 100 Eardatek NIM units from China - only took 2 days to sort out - they should be here in a couple of weeks.
USB modules are already in stock in the shop.
The PCB layout is being worked on by another BATC member and when the boards are ready they will be available from the shop. In the meantime I suspect several of us will make do with strip / vero board
Also looking to see if we should stock the 1v regulator.
So you should all be able to get this working on your laptop ready for the contest on 13 / 14th June!

This might seem like a really dumb question / suggestion, if so I apologise in advance!
Is there any chance, I wonder, that the PCB layout could also provide a header with a PARALLEL transport stream output e.g. 8 data bits, a clock, and a sync byte indication signal, all 3v3 logic level, and ground? The reason for the question is that if so, we could 'mate' this with the TS-DOCK PCB for the DTX1 and be well on the way to a fully digital repeater (or could we?)

I am not actually involved in this project but I do have some experience of using
a similar NIM and what you ask for is the format the data comes out of the NIM.
You of course also need an I2C connection to program the registers in the decoder
and tuner parts of the NIM.
I am thinking of using the PCB, not fitting the USB2 board and just soldering a flying
lead into the holes where the USB2 board would go.
