Thanks for the thermal images John. The under side ones would suggest that the green solder resist is acting as a thermal insulator and it would be better to leave a larger area as tinned copper.

Re: Build your own USB tuner Sharp V Eardatek

Post by G8DKC » Mon Dec 14, 2015 7:37 pm

Have only just assembled my first Usb tuner board recently.

I'm using an older Xp Sp3 32bit Laptop, and as you would expect ver 2 & 3 Minitioune software running Cpu is at 42% to 90%, Eardatek runs all ok.

On the 4 core 64 bit Win7 machine Cpu is at 21% to 30%, and again Eardatek runs all ok.

With the Sharp plugged in the Cpu overhead about the same on both machines but software only runs for a few minutes then freezes.

1v 3.3v and 5v are ok with both tuners, any ideas welcome.

The new Minitioune version 0.3b is available for download.
http://www.vivadatv.org/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=452

Main modifications since version 0.3a :
• Some situations where locking was difficult are now fixed.
• Changing aspect ratio from 4 :3 to 16 :9 now stretch the picture, so we can now correct bad situation like we have with HamTV that send 16 :9 pictures and indicate 4 :3 ratio.
• The frequency found is no more systematically copied in the frequency asked. There is now a separate button to do it. « copy »
