Looking for info on mods required to use a Glencom VC510 UHF to L-Band Upconvertor for use on 50MHz and 70cm.

So far the only info I can find is here http://ka7oei.blogspot.co.uk/2014/03/ex ... -band.html

Tracked one down at a good price but it will be a few weeks until it arrives.

Hi Colin,

I think Dave G8ADM uses one on 70cms - I have one but think I found the SUP2400 better when used with filtering, which the Glencom will also need.

Re 50 MHz - whatever converter you use will need really sharp filtering at L band to get rid of the oscillator (only 50 MHz away) and the image at 100 MHz away - the Glencom has an LO of 1950 so you will need an interdigital at 1900 or 2000 MHz. This is why I used an LO of 1400 MHz (Digilite LO) so I could tweak a 23cms interdigital filter up to 1350 MHz.

Thanks for the info Noel,
I was mainly thinking of using it for 50MHz RX, but wondered if it was any better than the SUP2400 for 70cm, so you have answered that one.
Also will be using an Digilite VCO as part of my 50MHz TX set up but with a controller and run at a lower frequency that mixer is better suited to.
Apart from the 50 and 100MHz , I also had an image a few MHz away, will try different frequency's and mixers and see what happens.
On the filter front I have had good results with Rob M0DTS design.
