Help please with SL65/12 digital sat rec.
How do you set up or configure an SL65/12 receiver for ATV digital use ?
Only i seem to be going around in circles when following the information
that i have here ... i must be missing something here ...
The information i have does not seem to explain it very well at all, but i
do keep trying but with no luck as yet ...

Hi Alan, Im using the Comag SL-25 here, & the first thing you have to do for general amateur RX is make sure you have set the required parameters into a spare sat channel, i.e. make sure you set the LNB Type to the correct freq offset
On mine it offers different freqs, such as 5150,9750, 10000, 10600,
The one you want is 10000 (ten thousand) ONLY then you have to enter the freq to scan in ON top of this in SAT Freq so for 1249 Mhz you would enter 11249
for UD output you would have to enter 11319
then select AUTO SCAN (known as a blind scan) & this will scan for ALL known digital configurations on say 1249 Mhz i.e. any FEC or symbol rate, good luck Alan, I'll be on later tonight firing digital RF into UD so may catch you then................Tony Stockport

Hi Alan
Also don't forget that if you are not using a preamp and your antenna has a folded dipole
then you have to switch off the lnb supply in the receiver.

Re: Help please with SL65/12 digital sat rec.
I have two SL65s, one mains and one 12V for portable use. Turning LNB off saves putting a voltage on input line but in my case I want to power a masthead preamp. I tested using the LNB voltage but if I accidentally change the polarisation setting the voltage will be more than my preamp will take - the preamp internal regulator will be OK but the 16V caps won't. At present I have to put a bias tee in line and an external 12V feed.
Does anyone know if there is anywhere on the SL65 that I can break the LNB voltage feed so I can fit a separate 12V feed? This used to be easy on older analogue receivers where the RF module usually has an LNB feed pin but I have no circuits for the SL65.

Re: Help please with SL65/12 digital sat rec.
If i remember correctly you can lift the diode DP6 just below the tuner and supply an external voltage into it's Anode.
I fitted a 250mA re-settable fuse in series too for some protection.
This was for an SL65/12, other variants maybe different.

Re: Help please with SL65/12 digital sat rec.
I have now done the mod to the SL65/12 by lifting DP6 anode and feeding in 12 volts there. Actually I took 12V from the power supply after the 12V input filter and after the series diode where there is a convenient unused via on the PSU board. I fitted a recessed centre off slide switch so I can switch between normal LNB supply, off or 12V. I took the advice and fitted a resettable fuse in line. My bias tee can now be used elsewhere in the shack.
Now to modify the mains powered SL65 in a similar manner.
