Re: 2MS DATV from Raspberry Pi
If you have an easycap, I know that there is a bug in mpeg-2 (not use the right camera). If it is the case and to be sure it is the issue : remove easycap from your raspberry and reboot then try mpeg-2. Let me know if it works.
Re: 2MS DATV from Raspberry Pi
Hi Evariste
Yes that's fixed it. With the EayCap removed the CAMMPEG-2 now works OK.
Many thanks.

Re: 2MS DATV from Raspberry Pi
Hi Folks
Is the EasyCap you gentlemen use an original EasyCap.TV unit or just a cheap $10 knock off?
Could someone please post a Ebay item no. or web address for a stable unit with Evariste's software
Surfing around there seems to be different era chip sets, issues with drivers and heat problems
Cheers Roger VK5YYY

Re: 2MS DATV from Raspberry Pi
Effectively, easycap is a generic name for usb video capturer.
Mine is based on stk1160 and was buy 2 years ago on a chinese website. Don't remember the link.
Could be very interesting to have feedback about other users :
Please provide the result of
v4l2-ctl -d 0 --info
Where you buy easycap (ebay,amazon,aliexpress...)
If it works well with rpidatv .
Thus we could have a reliable source to buy these cheap dongles.

Re: 2MS DATV from Raspberry Pi
There must be a step that I am not seeing in the instructions because I can not get this to work - not with the original PI, not a PI2 nor a PI3. What is it that people are doing? Is there something that has to be done in raspi-config?
POST
I have officially given up on the original PI as it does not appear its ever going to work with the new software and I can't find the old image from last year that did work but has an ever increasing delay. I spent the afternoon failing (again) and so finally ripped out the old PI and modified my box to fit the newer PI form factor.
It doesn't look great but not as bad as I thought. Just don't ask about the extra holes. The mounting is much better since PI realised that mounting holes are actually a good idea. I am using an extender to stop the digithin fouling on the USB connectors.
I found an image on http://f5oeo.fr/download/2016-05-27-ras ... -09-22.zip which I found worked with my PI2 and PI3. I am beginning to wonder if my problems are due to some or other change in the recommended version of jessie-lite on the pi foundation server.

Re: 2MS DATV from Raspberry Pi
Hi Evariste,
This is the info from my EZcap's
The first looks like yours and came from ebay a few years ago.
The second is a genuine one from Amazon six months ago, it is silver and has the USB on a flying lead. I haven't had either working yet, but am looking in to that now.

Re: 2MS DATV from Raspberry Pi
I have found a another EZcap in my draw, this one is working (it was the cheapest on ebay afew years ago!)
Looks the same as the black ones but doesn't have the rubberised finish my other one has.
Starts up in monochrome so needed the script mentioned in this thread to give colour.

Re: 2MS DATV from Raspberry Pi
Update
Running the script
v4l2-ctl -d /dev/video0 --set-input=0
v4l2-ctl -d /dev/video0 --set-standard=6
Has made both the black ones work
The same script made the silver one work on the S video input
v4l2-ctl -d /dev/video0 --set-input=1
v4l2-ctl -d /dev/video0 --set-standard=6
Made the new Silver one work on the composite input

Re: 2MS DATV from Raspberry Pi
Has anyone managed to get the original DigiThin board to operate with the new software ?
I thought at first the problem I was getting was down to I and Q rooting but that does not appear to be the case. I am not sure the Pic is receiving the correct information. The board works fine with the old software.

Re: 2MS DATV from Raspberry Pi
I haven't been able to get it to work, using a Pi1. The data on the IQ inputs to the DigiThin looks OK, but it doesn't give a proper constellation. The IQ pin numbers to put into RPiDATV for DigiThin are 18 and 19.
I also have a problem whereby the Pi locks solid as soon as I log into it. I'm using Jessie rather than Jessie Lite. I think I'll start from scratch with Jessie Lite.
