GB3BA - 3.4 DATV repeater

Post by g8gtz » Wed Apr 07, 2010 7:12 pm

Hi

You may be interested to know that I have just put in an application for GB3BA located near Basingstoke with a 2 MHz wide DVB-S output centred on 3409 MHz. (Input is on 2330 MHz)

The intention is to try and grab some spectrum for DATV as the band is being re-organised from over 100 MHz to just 10 MHz (3400 - 3410) to allow for re-allocation to 4G mobile phones - they'll probably do video as well ;-)

Technically this should be quite simple to implement as the ex Ionica units will provide a lot of the needed linear transmit up converter and PA technology - donations very welcome ;-)

It's also very simple to rxr 9cms as ebay is full of C-Band LNBs for £10 which will downconvert directly in to a standard FTA QPSK box.

But as usual, it's the license that will be the difficult bit ;-( I'll keep you posted.
