Hides DC-100 CCHDTV camera and DVB-T modulator

Post by drew23 » Mon Mar 17, 2014 11:57 pm

Hi All

A preliminary post on the Hides DC-100 (US$250 for camera, $100 for lens), a CCHDTV camera and DVB-T modulator; just add amplifier.

My blog gives more detail, although preliminary: http://vk4zxi.blogspot.com.au/2014/03/h ... lator.html. The picture gives an idea of its high quality video.

The Hides DC-100 gives high-quality Full HD DVB-T for very low cost.

Updating the blog post, audio is available with new firmware and a microphone. I plan to add an external microphone socket so I can use good quality audio gear. CCTV cameras normally don't come with audio as it is illegal in many countries, when used for CCTV.

Changing preset channels and bandwidth is done with switches. Changing other DVB-T parameters is more complicated and requires extra hardware. I have the gear, but have yet to try it.

In using a CCTV camera, I started to read about CCTV; an amazing complex area. An excellent book is: CCTV: Networking and Digital Technology by Vlado Damjanovski 2014. Very good and readable on all aspects of television, including human vision.

A quick word on lenses. Buy the better quality "MegaPixel" ones. The optical resolution of the lens needs to be as good or better than the video resolution; read the book for details.
