Adalm Pluto Steaming Problems Need Help

Post by MM0SAJ » Fri Sep 30, 2022 1:00 pm

Hi there all , Over the last year I have got my set up working well using sdr console for SSD and Narrow bands FT8. I have installed the PLUTO DATV - IS0GRB Patch v.2.1 for my adalm pluto but when I try to steam for DATV operation it wont work

My Set up is as follows

Station Set-Up

Adalm-Pluto RX/TX / Minitiouner (DATV RX)

Bullseye LNB (RX) Designed For QO-100 & 110cm Dish For Wideband DATV TX/RX

Bullseye LNB (RX) 100cm Dish for Narrow Bands SSB , Digi Modes & CW & TX from 110cm Dish

Cone Feed (TX) DC8PAT Excellent Construction mounted on 110cm dish

DX Patrol 12W Linear Amplifier

CN0147 Pre Amp

I know I may have an issue with the 12w Linear Amplifier needing one with more power but I cant seem to get a signal transmitting using the obs studio or vmix so i must be doing something wrong. The streaming light goes green in obs studio but signal isnt going out on air any help wouold be appreciated as its driving me crazy and its hard to find info on the internet to sort. The minitouner recieves perfectly recieving other stations transmitting. I dont think the pluto is going into transmit but maybe as i am over the internet it isnt initiating the ptt but it works fine with ft8 on sdr console.

Someone coming on remotely may help me if problem my end

Kind Regards

Steve

All beginnings are difficult..

There are many ways to transmit DATV with your setup and even 12 Watt could do something.. (at least locally  )
I understand you run some DVB firmware on your pluto and even the patch from Roberto.
The last part (roberto's patch) may not be needed and might be making things more confusion...

Main question is the pluto itself.. (witch version B, C D ) witch is on the bottom of the pluto sticker.
Next question would be witch DVB version did you install on the pluto...

Latest 0303 (21) is not the most easy . and i would advice not newer as 0201 (21).
You should be able to see this starting the browser to your pluto IP/pluto.php

There you also would be able to monitor your TS in the analys tab...

If you need more info i can do online help but may others have beter ideas...
And this forum is filled with solutions. The only problem is that you need a year to read them all... :D

Best regards

Thanks for replying Benn I have the REV C pluto and have just done a fresh install of the firmware 0201 version UII2.

When I copy and paste this command from the spectrum into obs studio steam rtmp://192.168.0.81:7272/,2408,DVBS2,QPSK,333,23,-10,nocalib,800,32, then start the stream I am getting data in the analysis section but where I go from here I dont know.

Much appreciated you replying and at least it looks like something is happening.

Can I recieve my transmitted signal in minitouner as it is my rx antenna for DATV

Cheers

I would say you have 2 choices, point the removed LNB from the RX dish, at the TX dish and see if you can receive your own signal, or just transmit from the TX dish and look for your own signal on the RX dish back from the satellite, or on the BATC wide band monitor. Sounds like you are nearly there, assuming the PA has enough oomph to get a readable signal up to the bird. E-mail me if you want my phone number, I am FAR from an expert, but happy to help as best I can My e-mail is on QRZ. Good luck Chris, 2E0ILY

Steve

The easiest thing is to tune your MiniTiouner to 2408 MHz and look for the signal there. The MiniTiouner covers up to 2450 MHz.

I monitor my own QO-100 transmit signal using this method - it allows me to check that everything is working correctly before turning the PA on and transmitting on the satellite.
