CAT 24 - Latest Information

Post by G8GKQ » Mon May 13, 2024 11:31 am

CAT 24 will be a 2-part event. The first part will be an in-person meeting at the Midland Air Museum in Coventry on Sunday 4 August. The 2-yearly BATC General Meeting will take place during this event. The second part will be online, on Saturday October 26.

The "Convention for Amateur Television 2024 Part 1" will be held at the Midland Air Museum http://www.midlandairmuseum.co.uk/ Coventry, commencing at 10 am on Sunday 4 August 2024. There will be a bring-and-buy, a show-and-tell display and a test-and-fixit facility for any Amateur TV Equipment. The venue will remain open until 4 pm. Aside from the General Meeting, the main focus of the day is to meet-up and exchange ideas about Amateur Television. Details of ticketing will be posted here nearer the date; admission will include full access to the museum's exhibits (numerous aircraft including a Vulcan).

A function room (The Grey Lady Suite) has been booked for an informal dinner the (Saturday) evening before at the Old Mill, Baginton. Attendees will be requested to pre-order from the menu, and pay their individual bills on the night. More details to follow - but please plan to be there!

A limited number of rooms are available at the Old Mill which can be booked on this website: https://www.chefandbrewer.com/pubs/west ... ill/hotel/. Alternative accomodation may be available at the Oak: https://www.pubanddining.co.uk/oak-bagi ... ay-with-us, the Dakota: https://the-dakota.co.uk/ or the Citrus Hotel Coventry https://www.citrushotelcoventry.co.uk/.

Hope to see you all there

The arrangements for CAT 24 at the Midland Air Museum are almost all in place. Please sign up by getting a ticket from the BATC shop https://batc.org.uk/shop/cat-24-ticket/ by the end of Wednesday 31 July so that we can print your badge. Sign-ups will be accepted after that date but it just makes things a little more difficult for the organisers.

The program for the day is:
  • 10:00 am Museum doors open. Tony G3UIS will issue you with a badge on entry and you should pre-order your lunch (if required) as you walk past the cafe.
  • 10:00 am - 1:45 pm Bring and buy, show and tell, test and fix-it, BATC shop, M0DTS and G4KLB van demonstrations and lots of time for discussion.
  • 1:50 pm Attendees' photo just outside the demonstration hangar.
  • 2:00 pm BATC General meeting and Prizegiving in the Argosy Suite (the portakabin near the entrance hangar). Please stay for this short but important meeting to have your say on what the BATC does for the next 2 years.
  • 3:00 pm BATC Committee meeting to elect Chair, Secretary, Treasurer and other committee roles.
  • 4:00 pm CAT 24 Closes
We will have more "sitting out" areas available than last year, and also more car parking. There will be tables available for you if you have items that you wish to sell, and also room for ad-hoc demonstrations. Please bring your latest project!

I look forward to seeing some of you at the dinner on the Saturday evening (which is fully booked) and the rest of you on Sunday morning.
