Thomas

What type of signal did you use for your Win 11 test?

I've seen similar behaviour on my Win 11 PC, but only when receiving DVB-S; DVB-S2 is not affected.

Hello Clive,
I don't know anymore.
I'll do that again tomorrow evening.
Thanks for the tip.

I've found that Open Tuner crashes when receiving DVB-S from the BATC DTX-1 as used in GB3EY.

It's OK on DVB-S or DVB-S2 from the Porstsdown, although the D report doesn't work in DVB-S.

Clive
Hi Clive, do you have some more information for me regarding this? If I can reproduce it then I can probably sort it out. If you run OT from a command line then there might be some clues there as to why its crashing.

Hi Tom
great work on Open Tuner. Enjoying testing

I use a MiniTiouner Pro V2
Not sure if supported
The Lnb voltage does not switch from A to B has anyone else seen this?

I can confirm it switches voltage and ports on MiniTiouner software

Thanks Terry G1LPS
Hi Terry,

Yes, the voltage doesn't switch between A-B on the current version. I know what the problem is, but its tricky to test without the hardware. I do have a pro on the way courtesy of DARC, but until I have it, it does make things tricky to test. I'm working on it though :)

Hello,
I installed OT on an older Wi10 machine and a fast Win11 machine.
Everything runs great on the old computer. The OT decode my homemade signal.

With the new computer the OT starts, the tuner is recognized etc.
As soon as a signal is detected, the program breaks off completely. Both windows are closed without an error message.

As a precaution, I uninstalled the old VLC version and installed the new 32bit version. Unfortunately the same result.

@ Tom: Great cinema. Very great work from you.
Is there perhaps a version in the future where put the video to an HDMI output?

Hi Thomas,

I'd be keen to find out what the issue is on the newer machine. If you run the opentuner.exe directly from a command prompt then it should show the info in that command prompt and should still be there even when it crashes, that could be helpful as to why its crashing. The installed VLC shouldn't make a difference as the necessary files for the vlc side is part of the package.

Regarding the hdmi side of things, how do you see this working? On windows your hdmi connected devices should already show windows, so in theory you could just fullscreen it on that screen? Or are you thinking on using specific hardware? If you can give me more info on your plan then I can look into it.

Is there an idiots step by step guide to downloading and installing this programme? Talk of compiling and the other software packages mentioned mean nothing to me.

Shaun

There nothing clever required to install this software.

Create a folder open-tuner in the root of your C: drive

Download from https://www.zr6tg.co.za/open-tuner/

Just scroll down the page and click on the download link( https://www.zr6tg.co.za/files/open_tuner_20230401.zip)

Save the file in the folder created earlier and extract the archive into that folder.

Run opentuner.exe

I am "playing" with Opentuner 2023_04_01 connected to Minituner Express and WIN10/64 bit. Works fine with QO100 and also with direct RF input 70cms on port B, no LNB supply. So I like to call it a nice and handsome piece of software.

Observed the following:
Used the frequency manager to input the 70cms data. Upon closing the frequency window the signal appeared within seconds on the
screen, but the data did not show up in the tuner control window as well as in the RF input box . Bug??
After restarting the app it used the settings in the tuner control window (QO100).The 70cms data are obviously stored and can be used
by seleting them in the frequency manager window again.

After changeing either the Broadband Spectrum setting and/or the Wideband Chat setting on the fly, the shutdown function shows no reaction with the screen being frozen.
