OpenTuner 0.B Released - 2024/07/14
Re: OpenTuner 0.B Released - 2024/07/14
Hi Rob,
There are no stupid questions..
Also 0.B runs in its folder.
So you do not have to install anything and just start de opentuner in the main folder.
I normaly make a desktop shortcut.
If you cannot find the opentuner file, you may need to restart the unzip procedure as unzipping sometimes stops premature with these big archives..

Re: OpenTuner 0.B Released - 2024/07/14
Thanks Brian, Benno,
I downloaded and unzipped the 0B twice, no .exe file in the zip. The .exe file from Opentuner 0A does not work, it gives a short error message complaining about missing files...
So not solved for now

Before unzip turn off your antivirus software, then unzip and check for the .exe file. Some AV software will delete it.
Find me on the LEO/MEO satellites.

Hi Rob, it does sound like a antivirus or something is interfering. Are you downloading directly from my website or from the github? If from the website, try the github download:

Re: OpenTuner 0.B Released - 2024/07/14
So I mentioned about the antvirus because I've had this type of problem many times. Create a folder for your software and go to your antivirus software and tell it to regard that folder as a search exception. Then unzip your archive into the folder and the A/V software won't know what you did, it will then leave all the files intact inc. your .exe.

Re: OpenTuner 0.B Released - 2024/07/14
I solved Rob's problem by copying the unzipped folder via remote desktop directly in to his pc.
Fun fact: we needed to use a new unzipped folder.
If i copy my active folder, he lost the starting screen as its on a different monitor, not used on his PC.
One of those nice results of using this way of program distribution. No installation required.
Maybe a small description of what files would be good to backup/copy to the next version folder so settings can be reused.
e.g. frequency presets, ip adresses and ports etc..

Thanks Benno,
All the settings file is in the settings folder so that should all be thats needed to backup all the custom settings. There is the danger of settings files changing slightly between version though, but it be minor moving forward.

Yes, it stores the gui positions and width and restores it on startup. I'll add in a command line parameter to reset it.
I've actually been considering looking at packaging it up into an installation file, but might need to provide both options. I'll see how it goesPa3fbx wrote: ↑Wed Jul 24, 2024 5:50 amOne of those nice results of using this way of program distribution. No installation required.

Hello,
I installed the version in a new directory and copied the config file from the old version.
I use a Winterhill with Tom's firmware.
When I start the new OT version everything works. Only in the waterfall the call signs are not displayed.
The OB from April shows the call signs.

Close OT, go to its directory, then to the "Settings" directory. Delete (I think, you could just delete them all) open_tuner_settings.json and the qo100_webchat_settings.json files.
Restart OT and after you input any settings that got deleted it should work again. I am not sure just which *.json file controls your issue, play about, even if you delete them all they'll get recreated in default format. Good luck

Hello Brasil,
thank you very much for the tips.
Unfortunately that didn't help.
I deleted the contents of the entire directory.
After the first start, the saved sections (offsett etc.) are reset.
Unfortunately, the calls are not displayed in the waterfall.
