New Winterhill Client - Test Version - 2022/06/21

Hi All,

Similar to the longmynd client, I now have a Winterhill available for testing. It does however require a few changes to the original winterhill software so if you are trying it out then I suggest you use a seperate sd card for testing purposes so that you can revert should something go wrong :)

Its all very similar to the longmynd client.

Details available here: https://www.zr6tg.co.za/winterhill-datv ... er-client/

Hi Tom
Thanks for sharing this.
Tried it last night and it works a treat.
One feature request if possible ?

I saw on twitter that you can record the stream on your original longhand project.
Could this be included on the winter hill client ?
I am sure it has been asked before :-)

Hi Nick,

Glad its working for you. Yes, recording has been requested multiple times. It doesn't work well with the vlc libraries that the client is currently using, but I'm testing a Longmynd client with the ffmpeg libraries that can record. If that all works out well then i'll carry it over into the winterhill client as well.

Thanks for the feedback :)

Hi Tom
Thanks for the reply.
Could not find your email address so posted here.

The day job gets in the way of a lot of radio play hi hi.

What I have noticed too is if afeature :-)...... If a feed say feed 2 has been selected at say 125, if Ks and then drops ... If a signal; returns at say 333Ks it will not resolve and needs to be reselected at this higher rate.

Had some progress but no sucsess.

I have included pictures of my progress so far.

Do I need to start again?
If so is there an idiot's guide.
I just don't get on with Raspberry Pi's.

Hello,

now the Winterhill receiver is running.
I have installed Tom's Client and can also call it up.
I adjusted the IP address and also entered the RX offset (all the same, since it is an LNB).
If I start on the Winterhill Local, I can use the client to control the receiver, etc. I then see the images in the VLC windows on the receiver.
On the client, the window goes black, nothing is displayed.
It's the same when I select a different mode (Anyhub, Anywhere, Fixed, Multihub). I can't get any TS data to the client.

If I interpret it correctly, the TS stream is not sent to the correct address.

Does anyone have any advice on how to set this up?

Hello,

with some problems you only have to sleep one night, then a solution opens up.
I now start Winterhill in fixed mode and have adjusted the IP address in home/pi/winterhill/RPi-3v20/whlaunch-fixed-3v20.sh.
It works, is that correct?
Now I see/hear all streams in the client.

Is there a way to display the individual streams in OBS? Similar to the opentuner07f.
I installed the VLC plugin.

Now if you run the Winterhill headless. Is there a way to properly shut down the Raspi? I once read about a solution where you can trigger the Raspi to shut down with a button.

Hello,

does anyone know what the small TVs under Actions mean?

The photo box makes a screen print of the received signal, but what does the other TV symbol do?

Hi Thomas,

If you were to run in a non-fixed mode such as AnyHub, the little television icons will re-direct the output stream of that receiver to the PC on which you clicked the icon. So you could, for example, watch receivers 1 and 2 on one PC and receivers 3 and 4 on a different one. Can be quite a handy feature.
