An other insight is that if i down grade from vlc 3.016 to 3.0 i still have the same problem..
But if i downgrade to vlc 2.2.8 witch is the previous version i can view the problem TS without any problem.

Unfortunately the WH multiviewer does not work with 2.28 VLC...

So more to test..

For Mike,
I have recorded 4 TS file with MT and 2 of them show the problem..
I have distributed the files to dave and brian for test,,

TBC.

Can you get the OM with the troublesome transmission to record the TS they produce locally. I suspect some issue with metadata or with codecs.

Hi, Mike,
I really did some thinking about that but my first problem is how.

How can i make a recording of the TS going from OBS to the pluto.

I have done several additional tests and found some working and non working ..

If i downgrade my vlc to 2.8 i can view the problem TS files..
If i use a full english windows 7 machine with latest VLC i can view the TS files..
If i install vlc 3.x in english language on my dutch w10 it to play the problem ts.

In the mean time i opened an issue also with VLC with the problem files send...

So i still long for an solution..

Hi Benno

Why are they using OBS to the Pluto? It is much better to use a script or free-stream coder. I am not sure the encoding in OBS is particularly reliable, especially for H265. If they are streaming from OBS to pluto via rtmp, then it has to be H264 which is going to be limiting. In that case to test stream somewhere else like the local host and see what happens when picked up in VLC. For both methods, if they have not checked the box on the pluto to force compliance, it will probably be sending a non-compliant TS.

If you are using OBS record to send the TS to a URL you can do the same. The problem is OBS built in encoding doesn't respect many important parameters which tends to make the TS unviable at low rates. That's why we need scripts and FreeStreamCodec to get the best results at lower symbol rates.

Solved...!?...

Hi Mike,

First of all i my self do not have a problem with streaming out of OBS or using the freestream encoder of using a Link-Pi for streaming..
My PC is well configured to do all without problems..
Having a Nvidea 1050 capable doing H265 hardware encoder i do not really need anything else..
But still i use the other 3 options for testing and different settings and a works fine...

Not all stations have the good Video cards nor a powerfull CPU and they need to rely on Hardware coders like the link-pi to do H265
Free stream encoder seems to crash or lockup the cpu when they run out of resources.
I had this here locally several times on lower cpu's..

Now for the problem..
1 Station caused this problem and as he was most helpfull in finding a solution we have Encountered numero's strange actions...
So i recorded 2 ts files with i could not play and 2 ts files with caused no problems..

I run dutch w11 with Nvideo 1050 card and w10 I5 notebook with simple video card and 1 German w10 with internal video card and all running the latest VLC 3.016
All 3 systems has the same problem.
When i run the problem TS files on any other stream player they run flawless on all...
When i downgrade to vlc 2.8 the TS files run flawless..
When i run the TS files on an english win7 with VLC3.016 it runs flawless...
When i send the files to dave and brain they run it flawless...
If i send it to VLC they cannot reproduce the problem..
The station i recorded has english windows and has no problem..

And now the solution...
In the link-pi there is and section where you can choose the encoder type to be normal. or smartIP or Dual IP..
No clue what it means yet but this was the actual setting causing the problem..
Moving it to Normal was the solution..

So yes we can say its encoder related but.....
Why is only VLC 3.x in a dutch windows effected.

Apparently my Dutch windows does not like Belgium chocolade..

Thanks all for watching...
And we may need to learn a bit more...

73es Benno PA3FBX.

ps i have the same hardware encoder and really can reproduce the error locally now, just incase someone wants the test...

That's a very odd combination of factors. Glad you got it sorted.

And the story continues..

I got a comment on my issue reported to VLC.

They asked me to switchoff the hardware decoder in VLC under settings..

I found the hardware decoder pull down having 4 option..
automatic
Direct3D11
DirectX
Off..

If i chose auto or Direct3D11 i got this problem..
If i select off or DirectX i do not get the problem..

So according to VLC its a hardware encoder error and not a VLC error..
Issue closed..

I have tested a bit so far and the problem seems to be solved..

Thanks all for watching :-)

Interesting Benno,

I had problems before with the hardware decoding on VLC causing picture break up, colour issues and routinely have it turned off. I usually make the point to try switching it off to see if that was the problem but I forgot.

So why doesn't it work in the Dutch version or was it just the codec was already disabled?

That remains the big ?.

I have updated all hardware decoders to the latest version 12. It happens on 3 different pc's with different Videocard and thus different videocard drivers.
Apparently they all have the same hardware decoder Direct3D11...

Switching off that decoder solved all my vlc problems..

So its a combi problem in and link-pi encoder witch is not accepted by a direct3D11 decoder..

It could be still an idea of testing that combi with you or any other valenteer.
I can reproduce the problem here using my hardware...

I've just changed from an i7-2 laptop to an i5-8 with Intel Graphics 620 and I'm getting the crashing problem with the station in question.

It happens when VLC64-3.0.16 hardware acceleration is set to automatic or Direct 3D11. I didn't get the chance to try the DVXA2 setting, but that uses more cpu power than disabling the setting altogether.
