What is WinterHill?

Post by G4EWJ » Wed Mar 24, 2021 1:56 pm

WinterHill is a 4 channel DATV DVB-S/DVB-S2 receiver.

It uses the BATC Advanced DATV Receiver PCB and runs on a Raspberry Pi4, using 2 PIC microcontrollers rather than FT2232H modules to interface to 2 NIMs (network interface module - the 'tin can').

Received transport streams can be displayed on the RPi4, a PC on the local network, or anywhere on the internet.

See here for details of the PCB and building instructions: https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Advanced_receiver_hardware

Brian,

Mine working fine. Very good project, seems to work very well. No IP issues on Win7/64 here.

How do we upgrade? There is an upgrade script called upgrade.sh I think.

I want to confirm that we are OK just to execute this, periodically. Or is it best to wait for an announcement via BATC? I know Dave C does this.

Thanks,

Mike

Very good. There are no updates at the moment. Yes, best wait for Dave to explain how that works.
