We are still finalising details but will be available on Zoom for members (to enable Q+A) and streamed live on the BATC streamer at https://batc.org.uk/live/cat21

The outline program is as follows:

9:30 - Welcome - G8GKQ
9:45 - Portsdown update - G8GKQ
10:45 - Coffee
11:00 - Ryde update - Tim MW0RUD
12:00 - QO100 desktop development - Michael EA7KIR - see viewtopic.php?f=101&t=7551 for background info
12:45 - Lunch - Interactive Q+A workshop
13:30 - EMF for microwaves and QO100 - Ian GM3SEK - organised jointly with the UKMIcrowave group offering theory and practical advice
15:00 - Coffee
15:15 - DATV Rx system gain distribution - G8GTZ
16:00 - Close

FYI - the EMF talk is being given by GM3SEK, a real authority on the subject, and will be a chance to hear will the theory and practical advice on the use of dishes and beams above 1GHz including QO100 uplinks for narrow band and DATV. DON'T MISS IT!

Yes, they will be on the BATC Youtube channel within a couple of days.

BTW - John G3XDY posted a good summary about Ian GM3SEK's EMF talk:
As I expect you are aware, UK stations must have Electromagnetic Field (EMF) assessments in place for operation above 110MHz from 18th November 2021. Some RSGB guidance on EMF is here: https://rsgb.org/main/technical/emc/emf-exposure/

The RSGB has been developing a tool that incorporates the Ofcom EMF Calculator but extends the models to include single and multiple Yagis plus various sizes of dish antennas, and takes account of the directivity of the antenna.

Ian GM3SEK, a key member of the team that developed the spreadsheet tool, will be talking about its application to Microwaves and QO100 operation on 16th October at 13:30pm, in a joint BATC/UK Microwave Group presentation during the BATC Convention.

Registration is not required, just go to https://batc.org.uk/live/cat21 to view the talk. Full details of the BATC CAT21 program are available here viewtopic.php?f=135&t=7609 <viewtopic.php?f=135&t=7609>

This is an important topic for all that operate on VHF and above, and Ian will dispense invaluable practical advice on how to assess your dishes and yagis in the microwave bands. Not to be missed!

I recorded 99% of the talks live off the satellite , only missing the first few minutes due to the wife distracting me with a job she mistakenly thought far more important ;)

I just want to thank all the presenters for a superb, slick, useful and interesting show, well done, it was all much appreciated :)

I was only able to watch up until lunchtime when another hobby diverted me (will catch up later) but I have to say very slick presentations and a whole load of additional insight gained.
Thanks to everyone who made it happen :-)

Unfortunately my duties at the NRC cashed today, particularly installing the CCTV camera for the OSCAR-100 uplink dish. I look forward to seeing the videos on YouTube, Particularly the Portsdown and Ryde updates and the EMC lecture.

Justin.
