Possible Symbol Rate Error on Ryde

Post by G8YTZ » Wed Jan 04, 2023 10:07 pm

In experimenting with 29.15MHz at low symbol rate I have come across and issue. I think the issue might be with the Ryde and the 125kS/s configuration or DVB-S.

The first column is the Portsdown Tx setting with Lime Mini set to 29.15MHz
The second column Shows if lock is achieved with the Ryde set to the corresponding symbol rate
The third column shows the symbol rate that Minitioune software reports and if lock is achieved.

Portsdown Ryde Minitioune s/w
066kS/s ok 066000 ok
125kS/s nok 124940 ok Ryde will not lock on 125kS/s, but change to 126kS/s or 127kS/s and it locks ok
250kS/s ok 250025 ok
333kS/s ok 333006 ok
500kS/s ok 499985 ok

It looks like the Portsdown transmits the correct symbol rate, but there is an issue with the Ryde receiving at 125kS/s unless an offset is used. I'm using the default Ryde settings.

Tests carried out using DBV-S, with DVB-S2 the problem could not be replicated.
