Ryde Software Update with DVB-T

Post by G8GKQ » Sun Oct 17, 2021 1:26 pm

As described by Tim MW0RUD at CAT 21 yesterday (presentation here https://wiki.batc.org.uk/images/8/8c/CAT21-Ryde.pdf) I have released the latest version of Ryde (202110120) which includes DVB-T/T2 functionality when a Knucker tuner is connected.

The update also adds Remote Control definitions for the following: Strong SRT-5434, Old Virgin Media, the Scott DVD Player and Sagem Set Top box. Thanks to the users who have submitted these; they will need to be selected in the ssh console menu after the update.

The update preserves the selection of previous remote controls, but over-writes everything else in the Configuration file, INCLUDING THE QO-100 LNB OFFSET. So you will need to reset this from the "Bands" section on the SSH Console Menu. You will also need to restart Quick Tune if you are using it, because it may pick up the default LNB offset during the update (which may be incorrect for your LNB and cause you to have difficulty receiving low SR stations).

To update, make sure that your Ryde and PC are connected to the internet, log in to the Ryde by ssh on the PC, and type menu and press enter. Use the arrow keys to go down and highlight the Update line. Press enter again and follow the instructions.

Note that:
  • The 2 DVB-T presets (146_333T and 437_333T) are currently positioned off-screen when trying to select them using the OSD. They are there and selectable, but do not show. Work is ongoing to resolve this.
  • The acceptable frequency range for the Knucker DVB-T tuner (50 - 1000 MHz) is different from that for the DVB-S/S2 MiniTiouner (144 - 2500 MHz). If the wrong frequency is selected, you may well get a "Source not Connected" banner or the previous picture will freeze until the correct frequency is selected. This happens if you change band from QO-100 to 146T for example.
  • On first selection of a DVB-T channel or band, the Knucker firmware needs to be loaded. This takes over a minute on the first selection since switch-on and you are left with a "Waiting for Source" banner while this is happening. Be patient; it will change to "Not Locked" once the software is loaded.
Please report any bugs here. If you want new features or functionality changes please check existing the list on GitHub https://github.com/eclispe/rydeplayer/issues and add it if it is not there.

Thanks to Tim and all the beta testers.

73es Benno
problem was wrong LO frequency in the band setting.
Correct setting solved my problem.

Update works fine with MT-express...
