Just missing the audio
Just missing the audio
Well, the good news is that the Ryde is receiving the beacon and the Virgin remote control (from a TiVo) works first time!
I found the Amstard PSU from the old STB dropped voltage significantly when loaded.
I also thought an ADX PSU would work via a breakout board, but it was very bulky.
So I bought the Pi Psu and a USB C female breakout board.
Looks a great set. many thanks to the developers.
But I have no sound (and I have checked the beacon) and i am in the correct HDMI socket on the Pi. However, I am using a micro to standard adapter for the HDMI cable, so should I buy a new micro to hdmi cable?
any other suggestions??

Re: Just missing the audio
Found the answer (when I found the FAQ). Just added a line to /boot/config.txt (took me 2 goes!)

Re: Just missing the audio
Hi Andy,
I wonder if you could elaborate a bit more on the audio fix you have done.
I am experiencing no Audio on the HDMI output from the Ryde. Using a Knucker into
the Ryde and pictures etc are all ok, the audio is present on the analog outputs from the Pi when selected.
I have checked all the other hardware, monitor, cables etc.
Cheers

Re: Just missing the audio
Audio output on raspberry depends strongly on type of hdmi device...
When Booting the RPI tries to detect the hdmi device but often makes mistake.
Simple solution is to change the hdmi settings in /boot/config txt which is a RPI thing..
You can find lots of info on this on the web.
I think the cable will be fine. Go for different hdmi device and config txt setting..
Best regards
Benno

Re: Just missing the audio
Thanks for that Benno,
I will have a look there, and give it a try.
I have tried 3 monitors but you never know

Re: Just missing the audio
Just in case....none of my HDMI monitors have speakers fitted, despite one having 'volume control' functions on the menu. That had me puzzled for a while.....
I believe there may be a Ryde update soon that will help.

Re: Just missing the audio
I have just issued a Ryde update that enables you to direct audio to the RPi Audio Jack. You may find this useful for bug-fixing your problem.

Re: Just missing the audio
Thanks all.
My problem sorted.. Just the monitors I had tried were perhaps too old.
Used a newer one and all OK. The HDMI does some handshaking when connecting and it has to be happy
with what it finds,
Cheers
