R2 and R3 on GPIO board

Just collecting the parts for the GPIO breakout board.

I will use an IR sensor from a new TiVo which i believe (therefore) to be 3.3 volts. I will check out the identifying earth pin as it is still on the original board.

Silly question : So on the GPIO board, should I leave R2 blank and put in a 4K7 to R3 ? Or should I short across R2 as well? Or anything else?

I am slightly flummoxed at this one, sorry!

I'm sure it is obvious to most people, but help will be appreciated.

many thanks

Hello Andy,

I have omitted R2 and soldered a 100 Ohm resistor in for R3. This has been working fine for me. A 4K7 resistor for R3 would also work.

I am using a 3V3 IR receiver. It is important to check the pinout as they do vary. The IR receiver which I am using is a 38KHz type.

Some more useful information can be found on the BATC Wiki, here is a link if you have not found this before:

https://wiki.batc.org.uk/Ryde_GPIO_breakout.

Hope this has helped,

7e Wolfgang

Thanks Wolfgang. I will omit R2 then. I have a 4K7.

You are quite right about the pinouts on the IR receivers. i have just found out that both the receivers on my surplus boards have the centre pin to ground (these are British STB's, Virgin TiVo and Sky HD) so I have bought the proper one off <popular auction site>.

thanks again es 73 de g0sfj

I have put a "surplus" IR receiver onto a tiny socket from my junk bag (removed from a stb or router of some description or other): see pcture; note how I have crossed the pins successfully.

Hi
I am using the same on my Ryde from and old tuner.
It runs perfectly with a Samsung remote
