Just did this video to show some of the SSH to Ryde menu setup for the GB3NQ repeater. This is using the composite video output ( as upto 4 Rydes may be used and the video switching is via relays ) and also the hardware shut down ( the Rydes are controlled by an Arduino to be shut down safely ). The video is also a reminder of the various bits that need to be set.

PS The beacon slide show is being replaced by a 30:00 minute video with stereo audio if we can get the media player to work as we want.

Thanks Martin. Ik Chose a slightly different approce. Ik use FTP to retreave the config.yaml back to my house.
And use a Notepad+ edditer to directly eddit this file to my needs. Than copy IT back witch is followed by a reboot.
Secondly a changed the red background as that's a difficult color for compositie. Last part. Is using a rpi screen saver for the beacon pictures..
There is also a Nice picture frame solution on a rpi zero on the www..
IT can play pictures And video's..
Hoe does compositie switching with normale relais Work out for you?..

I have not looked into the beacon video playback yet. It needs to start at the beginning of the video and be switched on by a control signal. The original media player just showed slides and no audio.

We use this small video processor that can be controlled via RS485.
One command and the display switches.
You can output 1 to 9 video signals at the same time.
The sound is mixed accordingly with a mixer (developed by Rob M0DTS).

I did look at controlling a quad split device and the python code can be modified to put a pulse output on the relays like a button press. I changed to switching the video through the relays as the quad split is adding another analogue to digital conversion. I also thought about using a HDMI quad split may be an answer as this would be HD ready and this is a future project.
The repeater is using this controller now although it is early days. It is still in the experimental phase where the original 1249MHz receiver has been replaced with the controller and a Ryde ( this just means the expantion of modes users can use ). The aerial and filters are the same. The second Ryde is 437MHz which was on the repeater before but had failed so the frequency was little used but now will start to be used again. The third Ryde is 146.7MHz and that is experimental. Both the 437 and 146.5 receivers require filters to remove the other signals from the mast and those are also being improved. This work is being done by other members of the group and is an up hill struggle ( the repeater is 1000 feet above sea level! ) and they make many trips to the site to sort it all out.
There is still one more Ryde to go and the frequency and mode (DBV-S or DVB-T) has not be decided on yet.
