New Ryde Version 202105160

Post by G8GKQ » Sun May 16, 2021 3:37 pm

I have just published a new Ryde Version. This has the following changes:
  • Fix pyftdi version issue (which prevented successful new builds)
  • Update recommended Raspios Lite build to 2021-03-04 (for new builds)
  • Add Toshiba and Sky remotes (thanks to G4EEV and G8BXH)
The ftdi programming utility does not currently appear to work; Tim and I will fix this for the next release.

As there are no new features except for the 2 additional remote controls, I do not recommend that users update to this version. There will be a new version with additional features and working ftdi utilities in the next week or so.

Hi,
I do like the facility of being able to use a remote to control the Ryde receiver, it makes tuning very slick. However, I was caught out by this ‘feature’ during the DATV activity weekend…….
Please verify the following issue and consider a correction for inclusion in a future Ryde release if appropriate.
Ryde Receiver band change discrepancy between SSH and Remote control.
If SSH is used to control switching between bands the band change is as expected. E.g., if 146MHz band is chosen and a signal frequency of 146.5MHZ is transmitted Ryde-Minituner achieves lock. If the Ryde is stopped and the band is changed to 437MHz the transmitter also needs to be changed to 437MHz to achieve lock as expected.
IF the remote control is used to change bands the frequency the Ryde-Minituner is tuned to does not change. This was confirmed by performing the above test using the remote to control the Ryde.
My expectation is for Ryde band switching with the remote or by SSH to be the same. If that was not the intention then please ignore this post!
PS I have not tested every combination of band switching, LO programming, GPIO and frequency tuning. The Ryde version installed is version: 202103130

Interesting, I was using Ryde yesterday for across the shack tests on 3.4 and went (via IR) from QO-100 to 3.4, entered 3.402 and 333 and it did the lot, including selecting the other LNB port. I don't tend to use SSH other than for setup.

Hi,

A new 'feature' noticed when using the HDMI audio output is the remote control Volume-up and Volume-down buttons do not control the audio level.

The Audio Mute button works fine.

Steve

The volume control buttons are not implemented yet. It's still very much a project under development.

I have just pushed an update (202105161) that fixes the bug (actually a self-induced version control problem) in Ryde Utils.

No need to update unless you are having a problem with Ryde Utils. Nothing else is changed.
