Discrepancy between Ryde and Minitioune MER/D Report

Post by M1ASR » Wed Mar 24, 2021 5:45 pm

I'm using a Ryde permanently monitoring GB3EY and there is approx 10db differnce in reorted MER (D reports are lower too). I've compared against the 2 MT's I have also. The ryde works fine in all other respects.

The first thing to check is whether you are getting interference from the HDMI cable into the Ryde tuner input. I had a similar problem and cured it by re-routing the Ryde HDMI cable and replacing the tuner input lead with a better quality one. HDMI is very noisy!

The software (up until the MER is calculated) is almost identical in both units.

All sorted, effectively finger trouble, I was using the the wrong tuner input! However, as I was seeing the repeater at over 10db, it didn't occur to me to check. A quick band preset edit and all cured. Now rx GB3EY @ 27db MER & D22.
