Ryde First Start Query
Re: Ryde First Start Query
Hi Dave,
Set to HDMI safe mode as suggested.
Rebooted, but still get same message Longmynd not loaded.
The only difference is the type is a much larger font and easier to read.
I am using an 19inch ALBA TV as the monitor at the moment.
Regards,
Nick.

Re: Ryde First Start Query
Hi Nick,
That sounds like you are not getting as far as you were before as you are now getting errors connecting to the graphics driver. Can you check that you are connected to the correct HDMI port, it should be the one closest to the USB-C port?

Hi Tim,
Yes - in the correct HDMI port.
Phot attached showing setup configuration on desk.

Re: Ryde First Start Query
Thanks Nick,
Can you try running the pydispmanx demo and paste the output and let me know if you get flashing circles on the screen while its running:
Log in by ssh, then:

Re: Ryde First Start Query
Hello Tim,
On the HDMI monitor I did get an very fast flashing Magenta circle that then changed Blue and then cleared.
It was displayed over the text screen.
Output on Putty screen was:-
pi@raspberrypi:~/pydispmanx $ python3 demo.py
pygame 1.9.4.post1

pi@raspberrypi:~/pydispmanx $
Nothing was connected on the Pi4 USB connectors.

Re: Ryde First Start Query
Hi Nick,
It sounds like you may have an intermittent problem as that test passed and it gets further than that to be able to display the "longmynd not loaded" warning, but when run manually it failed. Are you getting under voltage or over temperature warnins?

Re: Ryde First Start Query
Thanks for the reply Tim,
I have the buck converter seen in the photo set at 5.1V.
Where would an undervoltage or over temperature warning appear in this setup ?

Nick.

Re: Ryde First Start Query
Hi Nick,
Pi say you need to be able to supply 3A for the Pi4, which would be more my concern than the set voltage on the buck converter. Transient undervolts on the Pi can cause all sorts of strangeness as I'm sure Dave has plenty examples of from Portsdown
If there is a problem you should get little icons in the corner of the display as described here: https://www.raspberrypi.org/documentati ... g-icons.md

Re: Ryde First Start Query
Hi Tim,
Thanks for the reply. Will check for the icons tonight as I am working at the moment, but don't recall seeing any.
May set the voltage a bit higher - I believe it can go up to 5.25V
Regards,
Nick.

Re: Ryde First Start Query
Checked and there are were no voltage or temperature warnings on the HDMI monitor. Measuered the voltage on GPIO pins 2 and 4. It was 4.89, and while measuring a text message on the screen appeared saying low voltage.
Set the voltage higher to 5.2V and measuerd 5.15V on pins 2 and 4. Still got the LongMynd Not Loaded message. Tried the minitiouner in the USB3 port of the Pi4 and still the same.
So tried disconnecting the breakout board and using an official Pi4 PSU and still not working.
Should the receiver work, or at least should Longmynd load, without the breakout board being fitted ?
At a loss to know what is wrong with this.
