Not Locked etc.

Post by G3UEQ » Fri Nov 06, 2020 6:27 pm

Just finished my Ryde Rx, all appears to have loaded OK but I get on HDMI output red screen with LongMynd not loaded, then Not Locked.
PSU is official PI4 one, reading 5.21 v on load, Minitioune RX V2 is running on 12V linear psu at 12.5v. Minitioune works well on PC with same psu, however it looks as if its not talking to the USB port on the PI, tried different ports, same.

I have rebuilt the SD card twice and have seen no errors reported durng compilation, everything on menu through SSH works fine, I am using LG Blueray remote and that seems to happily work with the menu system on screen.
Any ideas, what have I missed (as usual!), do I need to remove the 10k resistor fitted on the FTDI board?.

Hi Andy,

There are 2 common reasons for this:
Check you are using the right HDMI port, you need the one closest to the USB-C.
Check you are using the right RF port on the tuner for the band you are using, by default the bottom port is used for all bands apart from QO-100.

Hope that helps,

Hi Tim
Yes, do have HDMI in port next to USB- C, I assume I would not get picture on TV if not. I am using the top port for QQ-100, I have also tried using my DATV-Express as signal source on 437. Interestingly I get no display on Minitioune that I do when plugged in my PC, I did run the usual tests and the Minitioune passed clean bill of health.

Andy

I got caught by using the top RF connector and got identical results to yours. I didn't want to use the bottom connector as I use that to anchor the tuner to the panel with a large nut.

Changing the default (B) RF input to the top (A) connector via the SSH menu fixed it for me.

Hi Clive
Yes, thanks, tried that but no difference.
Anyway, as a short diversion adding my Humax RM-F01 to the list as it has all the buttons required, where my early Virgin one did not.

Well, sorted it, should have checked in first place. The dc-dc converterin the Minitioune had dropped to just under the threshold of the 3.3v regulators, dodgy pot, so reset it to correct voltage and all working!
Perhaps there was a noise level increase on supply rail as they were near threshold, maybe affecting I2C ?

Thanks for everyone's input.

This thread was pointed out to me as I have recently started to suffer a similar problem - stuttering picture and sound on the beacon - which has previously been fine (ever since it was launched).
It's not my front-end (LNB, 18/12V feed arrangement etc) as I can receive the beacon 100% using my RSP-1 and the AMSAT DVBSGUI.
I checked the little SMPSU inside MT and it too had drifted low - reset to 4 volts, no change in stuttering. I have poor carrier lock (60-70) but 100 SR Lock and-45 on the RF power.
Its like it locks and then something immediately causes it to loose data/unlock, only to lock again. Mer is 6-8 depending on satellite occupancy.
I've re-run the 'Test my MT' package - it all passes fine. I seem to be getting a lot of noise spikes see the attached screengrab.

Suggestions welcome.....

Oh dear. Not this again. Please be aware there is a FAULT WITH THE BEACON. It's well documented on the forums and unfortunately they can't fix it due to the pandemic. Different systems respond to it in different ways. Don't rely on the beacon for testing at the moment. It might make you think something is wrong when it's not.

Hi all
I also have a problem with the Ryde showing Longmynd not loaded.
I have built the Ryde and the Portsdown 4 and two minitiouners.
The Portsdown 4 works with both minitiouners but the Ryde will only work with one minitiouner,
the other tuner shows Longmynd not loaded.
Both have the latest software updates and the minitiouners have the latest tuners installed.

Try swapping the USB modules over to see if the fault moves too.

I've had some weird issues with the FT2232 modules, some of which were programming related.
