I work both terrestrially and via the QO100.
I have installed a Ryde as a receiver on our ATV repeater DB0OV. It receives DVBS on 437.500 MHz and scans between 333 and 1000Kbs.
I receive our repeater analogue - i.e. without delay.
When I send via the QO100 I have a delay (clap) until I see it again of around 4 seconds.
When I send terrestrially on 70cm I have a delay of 10 seconds.
Is it the Ryde?

The difference is due to the number of encodings and decodings.
On QO100 the Tx signal is encoded once for the uplink, it's frequency is changed in the transponder and then the downlink is decoded in the Ryde.
Using the 70cm repeater, the Tx signal is encoded, sent to the Ryde in the repeater, decoded and sent to the repeater's transmitter. There it is encoded to be sent via the repeater's Tx after which it will be decoded again in your home Ryde.
Our local repeater GB3EY has an end to end delay of 9 seconds, so 10 seconds delay is in the right ballpark.

thanks for your answer. I'm only getting around to answering today.
Our ATV repeater receives on 70cm with a Ryde digitally and sends analogue.
It is only encoded once (in my case) and decoded once (at the repeater location with the Ryde).
Hence my question. I find the long latency too high.
The Ryde runs 24/7 for us. I'll restart it. It might be quicker then.

Thomas, you are not alone!
GB3NQ has some delay problems that are hard to find. Sometimes it seems that it is the Pluto at the transmit end of the HD output from the repeater but not completely confirmed. At one evening session the delay was 17 seconds but after a slight problem one person had connecting, the delay went to only 4 seconds! There was another effect of the disruption of signal through the repeater that had a suprise effect. A ryde and encoder receiving the SD output of the repeater at my QTH (used for monitoring the repeater) had a 30 seconds delay to the signal before the disruption but cleared to 4 seconds or less after it. It was as if the disruption sent a reset signal through the video system.
