PD2020 - Fully Loaded - For Sale

Post by radiogareth » Wed Apr 27, 2022 7:02 pm

Up for grabs is the PD2018 (and subsequent upgrades to current PD2020 status) that I built beginning in autumn 2018. I put up a build thread on this forum so you can see what went in and how it progressed.
Upgraded to the latest firmware today, tested on 70cms (see picture).
Its a Raspberry Pi 3B+, 3.5" touch-screen, pre-built filter-modulator board, with the 4-way switch, band switching and indication, DDS, Video Capture card (correct one for PD), an RTL dongle, linear power supply with reverse polarity protection, built-in audio amp and speaker, external connections for 2x USB and RJ45 and access to the band-switching.
If you add a Line USB or Lime Mini, it open up similar DATV TX capability to the PD4. Probably best to refer to the relevant WIKI for a full feature list rather than relying on my memory.
It has a RPi camera on the special HDMI adapter PCB/lead unit, camera and a small fold-up tripod included. Nice neat fold-up prop-legs.
There are a few things it won't do, compared to a PD4, but its not a long list. It doesn't support a Pluto. Band Viewer does not work on the smaller screen, but there is the RTL LeanDVB and the RTL spectrum viewer instead. I used both to help confirm sanity/check signals and IIRC my first DATV QSO was using the LEANDVB receiver as I did not have any preamp for the Minitiouner at the time.
The shut-down push-button switch is the only non-functional item, not faulty, but I think the software changed.
I very rarely sell anything I have built but times move on and I have not used this out /P since I built the PD4 with built-in Pluto (and therefore Langstone capability too).
I'm looking for £200 (plus delivery) which I think is reasonable. I did not keep any invoices and it does not have a current MOT or service history. Its easy to get at stuff in the box, it was laid out with common sense and serviceability in mind.
I'd much rather someone got use from it whilst still current.
Post here and message me if you are interested.
Thanks
Gareth
