Hi, I am noticing i have a problem with my Langstone V3 (PI5 and ADALM PLUTO) that when the software starts after a boot the waterfall freezes about 9-10 seconds after the UI starts just as the waterfall reaches the bottom (although i am sure that has nothing to do with it). The UI remains active but the waterfall has stuck.
If i stop the UI (./stop) and run it again (./run &) everything is fine and i can stop it and start it again and again and it is fine. It seems that it is the auto start that is not right. I have tried looking at the run_pluto script but i can't see what it might be.
any pointers would be much appreciated.

Waterfall freezes after 10 seconds
Re: Waterfall freezes after 10 seconds
Hi Eric - just a thought for you. It is well known that the Pluto likes a little less than 5.0V whereas the Pi4 is happier with 5.2V. The solution is to put a schotky diode in the Pluto power to drop the volts slightly.
Recently I have experienced problems with my Langstone freezing and that has been casued by the voltage creeping up, causing the Pluto to stop working (I am using an Ebay buck converter).
It may not be the same issue for you but I feel it is worth mentioning. Good luck!

Re: Waterfall freezes after 10 seconds
I agree with Russ. I had all sorts of random behaviour until I did the diode mod to the Pluto USB lead. Its been well-behaved since I did the mods. RPI on 5.2/5.25 and about 4.8 on the Pluto.
I think I have read that if you power it via the Power USB socket it negates the problem, so something else to try. I have not had any trouble with a Pluto on my PC which is of course pretty much spot-on 5V or slightly lower.
Good luck.

You're right Gareth; the Pluto is quite happy on 5.2v if you power it from the USB power socket.
It only seems to be a problem if the unit is powered by the USB signal connector.

The Pi 5 can take a while to settle down after booting. It may be run_pluto is too quick for it.
There are several sleep commands in run_,pluto. You could try increasing those and see if it makes any difference.
