Langstone V2 Update

Post by g4eml » Sat Oct 21, 2023 2:16 pm

I have just released a small update to the Langstone V2 code.

The changes are as follows...

Fixed a bug at first start-up after booting where the settings were not always being applied correctly. You may now see a new Red message 'Waiting for Lang_TRX.py" for a few seconds on start-up. This is normal and does not indicate a problem.

Squelch is now available for all modes.
The squelch now uses the S-Meter level as the trigger.
The current Squelch setting is displayed as a thin bar above the S-Meter. If the S-Meter reading is below the Squelch level then the audio will be muted.

For modes where you do not want to use squelch just leave it set at zero. Separate squelch settings are stored for each mode and band.

Hello Colin,

I updated the Langstone V2 to add the Squelch for all modes feature.

I can adjust the squelch level up to 100 and also have the bar indicator above the S-Meter responding.
Since the update the squelch is no longer triggering on any modes.
I also see the new Red message 'Waiting for Lang_TRX.py" for a few seconds.

I am using Portsdown 4 (Version 202310190) with Langstone V2, the Lime Mini and the Arduino mouse emulator plus audio dongle.

I have built a new SD Card but still can't get the squelch to trigger.
Any suggestions would be welcome.

Wolfgang.

Hi Wolfgang,

I must admit that I didn't test the lime version. I just copied the code across from the Pluto version which should have worked. My lime system is more difficult to experiment with as it lives in the loft.

I will give it a try later today.

Hi Colin,

I have just tested it with the Pluto version and can confirm that the squelch function is working.
It appears that only the Lime Mini version is not triggering the squelch.

I very much appreciate the work you are putting into Langstone, many thanks Colin.

Hi Wolfgang,

I made an error when updating the files for the Lime version so the mute function was not working.
I have now corrected the error. If you update again it should work OK.

I usually test my changes on both the Pluto and the Lime, I have 4 Pluto's so that is easy but I only have one Lime which is not so easily available.

Hi Colin,

I can confirm that the Lime Mini squelch (mute function) is working now after having just completed the Langstone V2 update fix.

It is an excellent addition to Langstone and many thanks for the fast update.
