Headsets for the recommended USB audio adapter

Post by keng8vdp » Fri Jul 16, 2021 9:55 am

Hello All,

Isn't Langstone GOOD. I'm having a lovely time playing with it.
I have the "recomended" White USB audio adapter. I have tried several microphones & headphones.
Some work quite good. I have also tried an old Karaoke stage mic and that works too.

What I would like is a "recommended" PC type headset thats been tested working. ( save me purchasing lots of different ones )
It would be GOOD if there was an "official" headset that matches the "recommended audio adapter" :|

So.... If anyone has a recomendation for a mic/headphone (maybe pc type) then please let us know here, it will be much appreciated.

In the meantime. I had a SSB qso with Mel G8EOP S8 received off me by Mel some 14 miles away obstructed path
on 2.320.300Mhz (13cms) over 2 days. 1st day I received him S9. the 2nd day he received me S8 . Good stuff (smiles)

Thank you all for contributing ... THANK YOU CLEVER DEVELOPERS too for giving us this Magic box.

I use the Sennheiser PC 3 / PC 5 / PC 8 headsets but it's your choice. They come in USB, single or dual 3.5mm jack form. Under £20. I assume you will want the dual 3.5mm jacks for the Langstone.

I also use a Sennheiser PC3 headset with dual 3.5mm jacks and the recommended USB audio dongle. No complaints.

I looked at the PC5 but they all look like they have a single 4 contact 3mm plug. ( not 2 separate plugs )
I looked at the PC8 and that looks to be a USB type plug.

I already have an excellent single sided headset with microphone called an Mpow. Works great with SDRconsole.

However I am more interested in any dual 3.5mm headsets as tried and tested using the recommended dongle.
The idea being that, some users might not want to go fiddling with lines of code.
It's similar to the Porstdown recommending the Logitech C920 webcam or the real Easycap Dongle.
The thread is looking for a quality headset that is plug and play into the recommended audio dongle

So thanks for feedback on the PC3 ..looks spot on

(note: some twin plug headset have FAT plugs that WONT go into the recommended audio dongle together at the same time)

I borrowed a Danyin gaming headset off a relative. Tried it & it works well. At under £10 off eBay.
Feels well worth the money quality wise and sounds good on TX RX
