Lang_TX.py failed to load
Re: Lang_TX.py failed to load
I have the same problem! (
none of the above mentioned tricks works for me.
I also built a "Langstone only" card with the same result: error message about the Lang_TX-py file and the dongle led doesn't flash.
using the command ./set_sound doesn't help...
the hardware is ok: if I use my ancient card built in june 2020 (Portsdown A27)... everything is OK!
just one more thing: my pluto firmware is v0.31. do I need to update it for the Langstone to work?

Re: Lang_TX.py failed to load
There is a similar thread that I started - finally fixed it by deleting the Langstone directory and re-installing using the Portsdown menu.

Re: Lang_TX.py failed to load
There have been some problems with installing Langstone on a Portsdown system. However you say you have had problems with a Langstone only build. That certainly should work.
I will have to try a build again for myself. It is always possible that one of the many components has changed. I will see if I can get the time to do it over the weekend.

Re: Lang_TX.py failed to load
thanks so much Colin!
btw I am not in a hurry.
just for your information to build the Langstone card I followed the instructions found on your github page and downloaded the 2020-12-02 release of Raspios Buster Lite while to build the Portsdown I used the 2021-03-04 release of Raspios Buster Lite as per the BATC github page.

Re: Lang_TX.py failed to load
Hi Claudio,
I have just built a new Langstone card using the latest 2021-03-04 Rapios Lite and it built and ran without errors.
I have updated the instructions to use the latest Raspios Lite which is now the same as recommended for Portsdown 4.
Unfortunately that doesn't help you much.
Just in case your system is slow to start for some reason I have increased the amount of time it waits before testing Lang_TX.py.
If Langstone continues to fail you can look at the file /tmp/LangstoneTX.log and it should give you some clue as to why the program failed to start.
Colin.

Re: Lang_TX.py failed to load
NOW IT WORKS!
just built a new card as per your suggestion and it is OK!
just for your information this are the print outs of the LangstonexX.log files of the previous defective card:
LangstoneTX.log
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/home/pi/Langstone/Lang_TX.py", line 11, in <module>
from gnuradio import analog
ImportError: No module named gnuradio
LangstoneRX.log
Traceback (most recent call last):
File "/home/pi/Langstone/Lang_RX.py", line 10, in <module>
from gnuradio import analog
ImportError: No module named gnuradio
and they are the same as those I find in the defective Portsdown+Langstone card

Re: Lang_TX.py failed to load
Hi Claudio,
That's good news. I am glad to hear it is now working.
Those error printouts seem to indicate that for some reason the gnuradio software was not loaded. That should be done done during the build of the card. I have seen that once before but I don't really know what could cause it to fail. gnuradio loads a large number of other dependencies so a failure in any one of them could cause problems. Unfortunately it is very difficult to detect all of the possible errors. Sometimes it just needs to reformat the card and try again on another day!.

Re: Lang_TX.py failed to load
I've just had the same problem on a fresh install of Langstone.
It was installed using portsdown menu.
The problem was due to apt being unable to find the packages, found this when i tried to install the missing gnuradio manually.
ran
sudo apt-get update
then
sudo apt-get -y install gnuradio
All now working.

Re: Lang_TX.py failed to load
Ah - I had that yesterday. Assumed it was my fault.
