Re: Langstone Discussion Forum
The Pluto seems to be quite touchy on the USB interface so it may be more critical of lead quality.
I also don't really like micro USB connectors, they are too fragile and prone to poor connections.

first step is done!
the screen is upside down but, at this stage, I can still rotate it! hahaha
my buttons look different and don't work...but I think it's because I have neither the pluto nor the dongle.
next step!

That display is normal.
It will not work unless you have both the Pluto and Sound dongle.
The extra buttons are because you do not have a mouse connected.
Colin.

Re: Langstone Discussion Forum
one more question...
I found an audio dongle in my shack.
I run the lsusb command and got this:
pi@raspberrypi:~ $ lsusb
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 003: ID 1130:f211 Tenx Technology, Inc. TP6911 Audio Headset
Bus 001 Device 002: ID 2109:3431 VIA Labs, Inc. Hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
any way to know if it's OK?
in any case were can I buy the recommended dongle?

Re: Langstone Discussion Forum
You don't need to get the dongle - though it is cheap from Ebay . https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre ... 1798473932
However to use your existing headset you will need to modify the python script SSB_TRX.py in the section that selects the sound device. This is needed if the device is called something other than Default. In my case it’s called “headset”. I had to change Default to headset in the relevant places.
Use the commend:
aplay -L
to get a report on audio devices. I am sure this will be addressed in a revision. If you are not familiar with Gnuradio and python it's probably best to wait or get the same dongle.

Re: Langstone Discussion Forum
thanks Mike,
the command aplay -L gives:
default:CARD=AUDIO
USB AUDIO, USB Audio
Default Audio Device
sysdefault:CARD=AUDIO
USB AUDIO, USB Audio
Default Audio Device
front:CARD=AUDIO,DEV=0
USB AUDIO, USB Audio
Front speakers
surround21:CARD=AUDIO,DEV=0
USB AUDIO, USB Audio
etc........omitted
maybe it's ok...but, because I am not even able to locate that SSB_RTX.py file, I will order the one you suggested!

Re: Langstone Discussion Forum
I thought you were a programmer? Anyway its probably best to wait for the right USB dongle and retain compatibility.

Re: Langstone Discussion Forum
Hi
I've knew today about the project and I can't say more that Great Idea. In fact I'm working on a 2 PCB boards (Rx and Tx) to add to Pluto, in order to have improve Rx capabilities (LNA's + BPF's) on each of the different ham bands form 144 MHz up to 5.6GHz and as well to include LPF's and PA's for TX in order to get at least 1W output, capable to drive external PA's.
I've seen on G4EML GitHub, that in order to install a Official PI Screen is needed, there is any possibility to use a HDMI Display with touch control, as I've one of those cheap Chinese 7" monitors?
As I evolve on my design of the RF part, I'll take into account the GPIO outputs of the project in order to switch the different bands.
