Adalm Pluto Firmware version?

Post by G3WUN » Wed Jul 23, 2025 4:58 pm

I've had an 'interesting' week with installs (several) of the Langstone software on several different (Class 10) SD cards. Some of the 'issues' are almost certainly of my own making. However, since Colin's very recent upgrade (includes RPi V2 Display) most seem to have gone away.

My 'system':
RaspberryPi 5, 800 x 400 RPi V1 Display, Adalm Pluto Rev C powered from Pi 5 USB (which is 4.95V)
I upgraded the Pluto firmware to 0.39 following my initial problems. Perhaps this might be the cause of some of the events below? and I have read posts saying that ver 0.31 is preferred?. I'm not keen to go through any potential pain of DFU-ing to revert.

I have observed the following:
1. A 1 second Tx burst on Power-up as the GUI becomes active.
2, Irrespective of the band it boots to, it does not repond to the PTT. Changing to another band resolves this.
3. After approx 10sec the display freezes and 'Re-starting GNURadio' is displayed. I think Colin's recent upgrade ensured that this happened.
4. My results of doing a Pluto_Test diagnostic test show 628. This is well below the suggested figure of 1900. The USB cable is the original supplied with the Pluto and its supply voltage is 4.95V (I've tried the diode mod with no difference) .

So my 'system' is very usable and I can press on with filters/amplifiers etc. Great software - thanks.

My remaining questions are:
Is Pluto firmware ver 0.39 a likely cause of the events above?
The need for a 10K pull-up on one of the RPi GPIO pins has been mentioned elsewhere. Is this relevant to the above?
How to improve the 628 test result - and indeed would it be of benefit.

Any suggestions welcomed (and apologies if I've overlooked posts with solutions to the above).
