Langstone V3 test version for Raspberry Pi 5
Re: Langstone V3 test version for Raspberry Pi 5
The Pluto is slower to boot than the Raspberry Pi, so is probably not ready when GNU Radio starts up after boot.
Portsdown now waits for the Pluto to be ready (respond to pings) before trying to talk to it. This may be the issue that you are seeing.

Re: Langstone V3 test version for Raspberry Pi 5
The Langstone start code already waits until the Pluto responds so that shouldn't be the problem.
I also don't recall seeing it when starting manually, only when rebooting. It may be that the operating system is not fully loaded when the GNURadio code tries to start immediately after booting.
The error message seems to say it can't communicate with the Pluto. Maybe the CPU is still busy from the boot sequence.
Possibly it just needs a delay before trying to start.

Re: Langstone V3 test version for Raspberry Pi 5
congrats to the version3 Colin,
did some testing on pi5 und 4 for some days and it'S running without issues on permanent basis. First i have had the /etc/fb0 issue as well but removing commenting this line in /boot/firmware/config.txt with "#dtoverlay=vc4-kms-v3d" made the 7" display working great
since i did some testing and adaption to v2 for optical communication (via 2nd soundcard) and introducing rit for fm as well (makes live at asynchronous transverters easier) i'd like to push my addaption after cleanup to v3 where you can decide if its ok or not. would be my attempt giving back to the community if ok for you.

Testing Langstone on my Raspberry Pi 5.
First with the official 7 inch screen.
And then with the 5 inch ones I use.
No changes to rotation or touch were required.
5" DSI Capacitive Touch Display for Raspberry Pi (800×480)
Waveshare
SKU: WAV-18396
I bought mine from The Pi Hut
These are not the supported screens, so may not always work

Re: Langstone V3 test version for Raspberry Pi 5
That's good news. It looks like it might only be the DFRobot screen that doesn't work.

Great work Colin.
Not found any issues yet.
I use the same screen on my small Portsdown 4 units but don't select the 5 inch screen option.
Not got a DFRobot screen to test as have always used the Waveshare one.
Always a little risky not using the recommended hardware as future updates could stop it working but got away with it so far
