One idea that comes to mind would be to re-install the Plutos firmware.
Wait until the end of the rapid flashing of the Pluto (that can take 2-3 minutes) and then correctly disconnect via eject device (as described in the instructions) ...
If I am correctly informed, the host name of the Pluto in the config.txt must not be changed.

Mike's remark about the "Force compliant box"; it was OFF and changing to ON, both builds Langstone stand alone and the PD4 + Langstone are now working without a problem.
So we can close this item and thanks for the assistance.
Another lesson learned.

Freddy, that’s good news and thanks to Mike for the pointer. I was not aware of that issue. Langstone is not using any of the DATV features so you wouldn't expect any of the settings to have an effect.
