Langstone update 16/08/20

Post by g4eml » Sun Aug 16, 2020 4:26 pm

A couple of new updates. With thanks to CU2ED for some of the ideas.

Updates to the GUI.

Added an S-Meter in top left hand corner. This shows a bar graph type S-meter with additional text readout of S level. Displays the peak value of the signal within the receiver filter passband. It seems to be fairly accurate at 6dB per S point. The Zero Offset can be adjusted for each band from the settings menu to compensate for pre-amp gain etc.

Added a scale to the Spectrum display.

Added SSB Rx Filter adjustment to the settings menu. The low frequency cut off can be adjusted between 0 and 1000 Hz. the High Frequency cut off can be adjusted between 1000 and 5000 Hz. These settings are saved for each band. This only affects the Rx filter. The Tx filter remains fixed at 300-3000Hz.

Updates to the GNU Radio Code.

Changed the Rx audio AGC module to a different type. This appears to work better and fixes the click at the start of strong signals. Also increases the decay time.

Thanks Colin

Updated with no trouble. I like the S-Meter. A very useful feature.

Is it me, or has the 1750 Hz tone button disappeared (I was going to check the S-meter using the local repeater....)

Hallo Collin,

update here also without problems.

@Dave: Here is the 1750hz Button, when MODE is FM, DUP is set (you see in the top) and PTT is on.
Than change the DUP-Text in 1750hz Text.

Thank you Collin for this wunderfull Update....
I always have crazy ideas.
Please don't be surprised.

Hi Dave,

The tone button should still be there. It should appear in place of the dup button when you transmit, so you need to press PTT first then 1750.

I can’t check at the moment I will have a look later.

My apologies Colin - I had forgotten about needing to press transmit to see the tone button!
