LimeSDR Mini MUST READ Information

Post by G8GKQ » Wed Jan 09, 2019 10:41 am

If you are the proud owner of a new LimeSDR Mini, please think about these points before you use it:
  • It is very easy to accidentally break the USB Connector off the board. We recommend using a case or mounting the PCB on a baseplate with spacers and then providing some strain relief for the USB lead.
  • The LimeSDR Mini performs a calibration routine before transmitting on each over. During this routine it transmits out of band at high power levels. Make sure that you do not energise your PA until after the calibration is finished. The Portsdown PTT lines are delayed to take account of this, but the DATV Express PTT line is not.
  • When you update the firmware on your LimeSDR Mini, you may need to disconnect it from your Portsdown and reconnect it after the update is complete to ensure correct operation. This problem is under investigation.
  • Remember that you need to use a powered USB hub between the Portsdown and the LimeSDR Mini. I use a USB2 hub for testing; USB1 hubs do not work, and USB3 hubs can cause driver issues (but may work for you).
I will try to keep this list updated as we learn more.
